15 mln roubles of fines imposed during sanitary-ecological two-month campaign in Tatarstan

More than 10 thousand violations have been revealed during the two-month campaign on sanitary cleaning of territories in Tatarstan towns and regions. Such data was presented at a briefing in the RT Cabinet today.

First Deputy Minister of ecology and natural resources of Tatarstan – Chief state inspector on environmental protection Rustem Kamalov announced the two-month campaign in Tatarstan to be officially finished.

The majority of landfills have been eliminated. Employees of the interior Ministry, the Ministry of ecology and natural resources, the Ministry of forestry, and the Department of Federal Service for Supervision in the Sphere of the Protection of Consumer Rights and Human Welfare have revealed 10797 of violations of environmental legislation, 15 mln roubles of fines have been imposed.

Raids on revealing unauthorized landfills and responsible persons, planned measures on cleaning territories have been implemented during the campaign.

According to Rustem Kamalov, the system “People’s control” appeared to be rather efficient. Citizens could inform about unauthorized landfills in the system. He noted with regret that in some places landfills have to be eliminated every year. Very often it is connected with systemic problems such as the absence of well-coordinated system of storing and removal of solid domestic wastes. Rustem Kamalov believes that local self-government must deal with solving these problems.
