Production of “Euro-5” diesel fuel launched in Nizhnekamsk

25 June 2012, Monday

A new full-capacity production has been launched and put in commercial operation in the city of Nizhnekamsk at JSC TAIF-NK. Shipping of diesel fuel of “Euro-5” ecological standard has started.

The Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov attended the official ceremony. Before 2012, motor fuel of “Euro-4” ecological class had been produced at the oil-processing plant TAIF-NK. In 2011 1,913 mln tons of diesel fuel and 583,2 thousand tons of petrols were produced at the enterprise.

At the same time, modernization of equipment was implemented at the plant.

Basic engineering for reconstructing the diesel fuel hydrofining unit was performed by «Shell Global Solution» (Holland).

Installation of new equipment enabling to produce ultra-low sulfur diesel fuel not exceeding 0,001% at the oil-processing plant TAIF-NK was finished this year in April.

Full-capacity production (2,25 mln tons of diesel fuel per year) has been launched today. From now, only “Euro-5” diesel fuel will be produced at the plant.

“The event is very important for Tatarstan and Russia,” Rustam Minnikhanov said.

“There were many talks about launching such a production, and TAIF group has realized the project at TAIF-NK for a short time. Currently, the enterprise produces diesel fuel meeting the Tatarstan’s needs and exporting fuel. I believe our arrangements in the context of the program on developing oil-gas-chemical complex are being fulfilled, it demonstrates our success,” Rustam Minnikhanov said.

He thanked management of the TAIF group and everyone who participated in the project realization.

“Euro-5” is a compulsory standard of the fuel quality for EU countries. This kind of fuel is characterized by low content of aromatic hydrocarbons and sulfur, resulting in reduced exhaust smoke capacity and emission of harmful combustion products into the atmosphere.

TAIF-NK diesel fuel will be produced for the domestic market and exported to 14 countries.
