Russian Minister of transport arrives in Kazan

RF Minister of transport Maxim Sokolov has arrived in Kazan with a working visit. Head of the RF Ministry of transport and plenipotentiary to the RF President in VFD Mikhail Babich were met by the RT President Rustam Minnikhanov at the Kazan international airport.

Upon arrival, Maxim Sokolov inspected reconstruction works at the airport. Safety systems meant to be used at the airport were demonstrated to the RF Minister of transport at the terminal 1A under construction.

RT Minister of transport and road construction Lenar Safin informed that after construction of the new terminal and reconstruction of the old one the airport capacity would make 2,5 mln passengers per year.

The project of inter-modal transportation from Kazan to the airport was also presented to Maxim Sokolov. According to representatives of contracting organizations, 60 % of 11 bln roubles have been drawn, works are being implemented at all sites. New railway traffic will open in December 2012.

Russian Minister of transport was told about reconstruction of street-road network of the city in the context of preparation for Universiade and the safety system of the Kazan underground.

Further, participants of the detour went to the RT Government House to attend a meeting on issues of transport safety.
