Ildar Khalikov: “Most severe measures must be applied to violators in the sphere of labor protection”

Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov urged to apply most severe measures to chiefs of enterprises not fulfilling labour protection requirements at the extended session of the Republican interdepartmental commission on labour protection. The session was held at the RT Government House in format of video conference.
Opening the session, Ildar Khalikov stated that in first half-year of 2012 the situation with labour safety had not improved and the rate of industrial injuries had not reduced.
According to the data presented by Head of the republican Government, the number of people died of industrial accidents has increased from 39 to 47 people.
Ildar Khalikov noted that agriculture is still the most problematic sphere, since 11 workers have died during the year. Construction industry is also a very injury-risk sphere. 14 people have died for 6 months of 2012.
“Unfortunately, we only face facts and investigate accidents which have already happened. By the way, main task is prevention and application of severe measures to violators. It has to do with municipalities,” the Tatarstan President said.
The Minister of labour, employment and social protection Airat Shafigullin informed that more than 6 thousand violations in the sphere of labour protection have been revealed in first half-year of 2012.
According to the RT Premier, 90% of accidents are caused by non-fulfillment of labour protection requirements by employers. He urged to apply severer measures to violators, such as discharge from office, and criminal responsibility.
During the session representatives of the RT Ministry of construction, architecture, housing and utilities, Ministry of agriculture and foodstuff, and chief of the Kazan executive committee Aleksei Pesoshin presented their reports.
On 9 May Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in a ceremony of laying flowers to the monument “The victorious soldier” dedicated to the celebrations of the Day of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WW II) 1941-1945 and held at Arsk cemetery in Kazan.
On 8 May, speaking at a meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with participation of the Acting Chairman of the State Council of the republic Marat Akhmetov and the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin, the Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector of the republic Marat Ayzatullin reported that capital overhaul of social facilities is in full swing in the republic with 170 educational facilities having been included into regional and federal programmes.
On 4 May at a briefing held in the Tatarstan Government House it was told that currently there are 92 combat veterans, the last witnesses of the Great Patriotic War (WW II) of 1941-1945, living in the republic. The briefing also informed about veterans’ support measures and how the republic is planning to celebrate the Victory Day on 9 May.
The Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva told that names of 353 Heroes of the Soviet Union from Tatarstan “ are immortalized in street names, on memorials, in monuments and squares and, of course, in our memory”. “The Victory Day is the day of memory, mourning and joy. It is the event which today should be clearly understandable to all young people and younger generation of Tatarstan,” she said.
