Rustam Minnikhanov visits Singapore school Hwa Chong Institution

President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov has acquainted with activity of Hwa Chong Institution. Director of the school Hon Chiew Weng presented the institution for the Tatarstan delegation.
Russia’s Minister of Communications and Mass Media Nikolai Nikiforov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan and Minister of Informatization and Communications of the Republic of Tatarstan Roman Shaikhutdinov, Aide to the Tatarstan President Radik Gimatdinov took part in the event.
The mission of Hwa Chong Institution is “to develop leaders for the nation”. The school has a rich history of 94 years. Within the last seven years, 51 laureates of Singapore Presidential scholarship have been educated at this institution. Best Singapore pupils participating in the state program for talented children are willing to continue their education at Hwa Chong Institution and take first places in annual contests among comprehensive institutions.
Hwa Chong education has much in common with higher education. Every student studies by a unique academic plan developed with participation of famous specialists in the sphere of education. The emphasis is put on creativity, academic achievements and development of leadership skills.
Hwa Chong is the first educational institution in Singapore with its own research laboratory and leadership training center.
After presentation the Tatarstan delegation visited chemistry, physics, and biology laboratories and a modern library.
Hwa Chong was the first international school to open campus in Beijing (China). The school is the official partner of the Kazan gymnasium №19. Lilia Mukhametshina, professional development coach responsible for cooperation with Russian speaking regions of «Educare» company told about cooperation of Singapore and Tatarstan educational institutions.
Educare Co-operative Limited, a co-operative of the Singapore Teachers’ Union focuses on professional development, staff assistance and development of educational technologies. The Tatarstan delegation was interested in the company’s activity.
The Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov suggested considering an opportunity of opening the «Educare» branch in Tatarstan. Rustam Minnikhanov said that experience of Hwa Chong teachers is interesting for Tatarstan. He appreciated the quality of education in Singapore and expressed a desire to cooperate in the sphere of education, student exchange and professional development of teachers.
On 5 May, speaking at a regular meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with participation of the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector of the republic Marat Ayzatullin informed that currently 63 school catering units are under repairs with the amount of work completed reaching 15 per cent.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
