The International Conference on hydrometeorology and environmental monitoring opens in Kazan

The International Scientific Conference on the regional aspects of hydrometeorology and environmental monitoring has opened in Kazan. More than 200 scientists and specialists take part in the event.
Secretary General of the World Meteorological Organization Michael Jaro especially arrived in Kazan to attend the conference.
“Tatarstan leadership has always supported the republican meteorological service. This cooperation has become even more significant in the run-up to Universiade 2013,” Chief of the Russian Federal Service for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring Aleksandr Frolov said.
The conference is also dated to 200th anniversary of meteorological observations in Kazan and 20th anniversary of the CIS Interstate Council on Hydrometeorology.
Tatarstan’s PM Ildar Khalikov welcomed guests and participants of the conference on behalf of the republican leadership.
“It is such an important event for Tatarstan. Over the last years we have realized that work of scientists and specialists in the sphere of hydrometeorology and environmental monitoring has a serious impact on our current activity. Forecasting and readiness for emergency situations increase safety of economy and people, and help minimizing their consequences,” he said.
Head of Tatarstan Government said that it is symbolic that the conference is held at the Kazan Federal University, one of the oldest universities in Russia known for achievements in scientific and educational spheres.
Michael Jaro, in his turn, thanked organisers of the event and the Tatarstan leadership on behalf of the World Meteorological Organization for holding the conference.
On 15 December, speaking at a meeting of the competition committee of the regional public competition “The Manager of the Year” about its results in 2025, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the list of 155 participants (nominees), who are heads of enterprises and organizations from various industries and sectors of the economy, for the competition was formed based on recommendations from regional ministries and departments, city and district municipalities, employers' associations and the Federation of Trade Unions of the republic.
On 6 December speaking at a regional meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the regional Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector Marat Ayzatullin reported about progress in implementation of the of multi-apartment houses capital overhaul programme.
On 5 December, congratulating volunteers with the International Volunteers Day, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva wrote in her address: “
Your boundless kindness, sincere desire to help others and active civic position deserve special recognition and deep gratitude. There are over 5,000 volunteer associations operating successfully in Tatarstan, with a total membership of over 220,000 caring people of all ages and professions. Every year the contribution of volunteers into public life of the republic becomes more noticeable.
On 4 December Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Gafarov, who is the Chief of Staff of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic, took part in a strategic session on the establishment of an inter-university campus in the republic being held at the Kazan Aircraft University on 4-6 December with participation of more than 100 people and more than 40 experts in politics, economy, science, education and industry from all over Russia.
