Rustam Minnikhanov: Cyberjaya experience to be very useful for Innopolis development

“Cyberjaya experience in the sphere of establishing IT city Cyberjaya is very interesting for Tatarstan in terms of Innopolis project realization,” the Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said while visiting Cyberjaya within the framework of his visit to Malaysia.
Members of the Tatarstan delegation visited head office of the Malaysian Multimedia Development Corporation (MDEC) in Cyberjaya where the state Super Corridor program and Cyberjaya city were presented.
The state program «Multimedia Super Corridor» was launched in 1996 in Malaysia. Its mission was to turn Malaysia into a dynamic player on IT arena. The program implied active attraction of foreign companies to Malaysia, thus giving impetus to development of local IT industry.
Cyberjaya high-tech zone is the heart of Multimedia Super Corridor. Cyberjaya project was launched in 1997 and is currently known as Silicon Valley of Malaysia. Cyberjaya translated as “Cyber city” is located in the suburb of the Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur. 55 thousand people work on its territory during the working day, 35 thousand people live in the city. The city contains IT and so-called “green” companies, all in all, more than 600 companies. Among resident companies are IBM, Dell, AMD, Ericsson, HP, Fujitsu, BMW. The largest in southeastern Asia data center and head office of Malaysian tax service are located here. Total area of the city makes 2800 hectares. The government has spent 1,3 bln dollars for infrastructure development.
The city has a developed infrastructure and utility systems, five high-level educational institutions, multimedia university. There are 13 research centers focused on the following spheres: nanotechnologies, virtual reality, robot building. Shops, sports centers, bus routes, are provided for comfortable living.
The Malaysian Multimedia Development Corporation (MDEC) is a state company in charge of Multimedia Super Corridor development. Its work is based on one-stop system which comprises efficiency and performance of a private company and power of an authorized governmental agency. The corporation deals with preparation of proposals for drafts of regulatory legal acts of the Malaysian Government, and promotion of Super Corridor program on local and international levels.
After the presentation Rustam Minnikhanov told about Innopolis project realization in Tatarstan. Finally, the Tatarstan President left a note in the book of MDEC honourable guests.
On 10 March, speaking at a briefing dedicated to the development of the national Max messenger in Tatarstan and held in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Digitalization of Public Administration, Information Technologies and Communication of the republic Ilya Nachvin informed that according to the data of March 2026 about 1.5m residents of Tatarstan use domestic Max messenger.
On 5 February Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in ceremony of awarding winners of the regional competition “The Woman of the Year. The Man of the Year: A Woman’s View” held at the Korston Leisure and Recreation Center in Kazan.
On 4 March at a briefing in the Government House of the republic Tatarstan Minister of Land and Property Relation Fanil Agliullin told about changes in land legislation enforced from 1 March of the current year. He said that they simplify a number of procedures for land plot owners including expanding the possibilities for land use and changing the rules for changing the category of a plot.
On 2 March in her address on the occasion of the Mentor’s Day, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva congratulated residents of the republic with the event and wrote: “Since 2025 this holiday established by Russian President Vladimir Putin has occupied a worthy place in the calendar of significant dates of our country, emphasizing the high status and significance of the mentoring mission.
