Rustam Minnikhanov: The issue of shale oil development requires technological approach with regard to 50 years

“Shale oil is the future of the Republic of Tatarstan, though Tatneft company seriously deals with bituminous oil today,” President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said during the conversation with several republican media agencies at the RT Government House.
“We have enormous reserves of bituminous oil. Within the last 5-6 years Tatneft has learnt much in terms of organisation of bituminous oil production. Shale oil is our future. This issue requires technological approach with regard to 50 years,” the President said.
According to Rustam Minnikhanov, he already gave assignment to specialists to study advanced technologies in the sphere of shale oil development.
“We study most state-of-the-art technologies. At every session of OAO “Tatneftekhiminvest-holding” we try to discuss some new technology and invite specialists. We are searching for and exploring everything new that appears in the world. This is the only way to stay competitive,” the Tatarstan President said.
On 10 March, speaking at a briefing dedicated to the development of the national Max messenger in Tatarstan and held in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Digitalization of Public Administration, Information Technologies and Communication of the republic Ilya Nachvin informed that according to the data of March 2026 about 1.5m residents of Tatarstan use domestic Max messenger.
On 5 February Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in ceremony of awarding winners of the regional competition “The Woman of the Year. The Man of the Year: A Woman’s View” held at the Korston Leisure and Recreation Center in Kazan.
On 4 March at a briefing in the Government House of the republic Tatarstan Minister of Land and Property Relation Fanil Agliullin told about changes in land legislation enforced from 1 March of the current year. He said that they simplify a number of procedures for land plot owners including expanding the possibilities for land use and changing the rules for changing the category of a plot.
On 2 March in her address on the occasion of the Mentor’s Day, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva congratulated residents of the republic with the event and wrote: “Since 2025 this holiday established by Russian President Vladimir Putin has occupied a worthy place in the calendar of significant dates of our country, emphasizing the high status and significance of the mentoring mission.
