Rustam Minnikhanov: Universiade is a good reason to change people’s mentality

“Preparation of summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan is a good example of synchronous work of all agencies,” President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov said during the conversation with managers of some republican media agencies at the RT Government House.
“Federal structures, republican authorities and municipality work synchronously as one team. Universiade is an international event. Federal authorities appreciate and understand our work. It is an image event for our country. I express special thanks to First Vice-premier of the Russian Government Igor Shuvalov who will come to Vladivostok tomorrow in order to receive Universiade Torch. It means that great importance is being attached to Universiade,” Rustam Minnikhanov said.
“Within the framework of Universiade 2013 we should show our country so that people feel envious. Such projects change image of our city. Look how much we’ve done. Universiade is a good reason to change people’s mentality,” Rustam Minnikhanov said.
The President reminded that representatives of 170 countries would come to participate in the event.
“Kazan is becoming an attractive city for investors, tourists. We are changing attitude to our city. After Universiade we will keep the same pace of work and life. We will host World Aquatics Championship and matches of the World Football Cup,” Rustam Minnikhanov said.
On 10 March, speaking at a briefing dedicated to the development of the national Max messenger in Tatarstan and held in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Digitalization of Public Administration, Information Technologies and Communication of the republic Ilya Nachvin informed that according to the data of March 2026 about 1.5m residents of Tatarstan use domestic Max messenger.
On 5 February Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in ceremony of awarding winners of the regional competition “The Woman of the Year. The Man of the Year: A Woman’s View” held at the Korston Leisure and Recreation Center in Kazan.
On 4 March at a briefing in the Government House of the republic Tatarstan Minister of Land and Property Relation Fanil Agliullin told about changes in land legislation enforced from 1 March of the current year. He said that they simplify a number of procedures for land plot owners including expanding the possibilities for land use and changing the rules for changing the category of a plot.
On 2 March in her address on the occasion of the Mentor’s Day, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva congratulated residents of the republic with the event and wrote: “Since 2025 this holiday established by Russian President Vladimir Putin has occupied a worthy place in the calendar of significant dates of our country, emphasizing the high status and significance of the mentoring mission.
