Russian round of Universiade Torch Relay started in Vladivostok

Russian round of Universiade Torch Relay has started Vladivostok from campus of Far Eastern Federal University on Russky Island. First Vice-premier of the Russian Government Igor Shuvalov, President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and other officials participated in the event.
Universiade Torch was lit on July, 12, 2012 in Sorbonne. It has travelled around the world on a sailboat “Sedov” and covered 45 thousand nautical miles. Yesterday the torch was brought to Vladivostok.
Member of the crew Anatoly Vasiliev brought the torch to campus of Far Eastern Federal University. Head of Russian sport student union Oleg Matytsin lit the flame to the student anthem “Gaudeamus”. Honourable guests passed the flame to captain of the Kazan Ak Bars Aleksei Morozov.
Famous volleyball player of Dinamo-Kazan team Ekaterina Gamova, tennis player Dinara Safina, fencer Kamilla Gafurzyanova, volunteers, students of Far Eastern Federal University participated in relay.
First Vice-premier of the Russian Government Igor Shuvalov welcomed the audience. “I congratulate you on the start of Universiade Torch Relay in Vladivostok. In 161 days the torch will be brought to Kazan and we will be supporting our sportsmen. I hope it will be the best student games,” Igor Shuvalov said.
Governor of Primorski Krai Vladimir Miklushevsky wished successful holding of Universiade and new wins to participants.
President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov thanked guests and organisers of the event.
Telebridge Kazan-Vladivostok was held during the ceremony. Chairman of the RT State Council Farid Mukhametshin and Olympic champion Ulia Zaripova welcomed Vladivostok citizens from the new stadium.
Within the next few days the torch will be kept at Far Eastern Federal University and then will be brought to Khabarovsk.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
