Valentina Matvienko: “Tatarstan anti-corruption practice should be used throughout Russia”

At All-Russia research and practice conference “Improvement of legal and institutional anti-corruption framework in Russian subjects: problems and solutions” Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko said: “The Republic of Tatarstan is one of the advanced regions in Russia in terms of anti-corruption practice. Tatarstan’s experience should be used throughout the country.”

President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov participated in the event in Kazan.

At the conference scientists, officials, lawyers from 33 Russian regions and Kazakhstan discuss urgent issues of anti-corruption activity and implementation of anti-corruption policy considering examples of Russian regions, including Tatarstan.

President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov thanked guests presented at the conference and thanked event managers and participants. He said that there is wide anti-corruption practice gained in republic.

Rustam Minnikhanov also invited participants of the conference to summer Universiade 2013.

Valentina Matvienko said: “Currently anti-corruption activity is becoming more systemic, principal and consistent.” She informed that about 50 thousand corruption crimes were registered and more than 7 thousand people were convicted in 2012.

Valentina Matvienko noted successful practice of Tatarstan in anti-corruption activity. In the interview she said that Tatarstan started enacting anti-corruption laws earlier than the federal center.

“A clear regional legal anti-corruption framework has been built up in Tatarstan. New forms of work are efficiently used, institutes of civil society are involved, transparency of authorities’ work is provided. President of republic personally pays much attention to this issue,” Valentina Matvienko said.
