President of Tatarstan: “Observance of the Code of Judicial Ethics must be the inner conviction of judges”

A two-day IX report-and-election conference of Tatarstan judges opened today in Kazan. 350 delegates representing republican judicial sphere are participating in the event.

President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov welcomed participants of the conference. He said that the right to judicial protection was becoming more important. “When judges decide a case, they shape one’s future, resolve on one’s property, transactions, interests of business and the government. Work of all courts is very important,” he said.

President of Tatarstan reminded that priority tasks on further improvement of judicial system aimed at increasing efficiency of courts’ work, reputation in society, publicity of legal proceedings had been set by the Russian President at All-Russian congress of judges.

Speaking about citizens’ rights, President of Tatarstan focused on the justice of the peace as the most popular topic in the public. He noted positive changes happening in this sphere. However, there are some problems to be solved, he said A long-term special-purpose program “Development of the institute of justice of the peace for 2013-2015” is expected to solve these problems.

Rustam Minnikhanov considers support of the RF State Duma and the President of the proposal concerning increase of the number of judicial districts of justice of the peace in Tatarstan to be an important last year’s event. Another important republic’s achievement is increase of transparency of the judicial system.

“The federal law on providing access to information about activity of courts has become an efficient tool of feedback with citizens and organisations. Almost all information about courts is available today, websites of courts are working,” Rustam Minnikhanov said.

President of Tatarstan noted that successful work on introducing sms notifications for participants of legal proceedings was carried out last year.
Summing up, Rustam Minnikhanov thanked judges for work.
