Aleksey Pesoshin attends the interment ceremony of Metropolitan Theophan
On November 23, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov together with Governor of Saint Petersburg Aleksander Beglov, First Deputy Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Mikhail Babich, Prime Minister of the republic Aleksey Pesoshin, Chief of Staff of Tatarstan President’s Office Asgat Safarov and Temporary Governor of the Kazan Diocese of the Tatarstan Metropolis Metropolitan of Yoshkar-Ola and Mari-El Ioannes took part in the interment ceremony of Metropolitan of Kazan and Tatarstan Theophan, who died on November 20 at the age of 74 and was buried on the territory of the Kazan Virgin Monastery.
Theophan took an active part in the reconstruction of the cathedral, which was destroyed in the 1930s.
After the ceremony, Minnikhanov, Beglov and Babich looked around the Cave Temple, and also got acquainted with the progress of the reconstruction of the Cathedral of the Kazan icon of the Mother of God.
