Construction of Armstrong factory started at SEZ “Alabuga”

An American factory “Armstrong” producing ceiling panels will start operating at SEZ “Alabuga” by the end of 2014. A solemn foundation stone laying ceremony was held today with participation of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov.
Director General of OAO “Special economic zones” Mikhail Trushko, President of Armstrong World Industries Matthew Espe participated in the event.
The American company “Armstrong” is the founder of suspended ceilings production. Tatarstan factory will be the first in Russia. Total amount of investments will make 100 mln dollars. Annual production capacity is expected to make 22 mln m² of ceiling panels.
Rustam Minnikhanov said that it is an important event for Russia and thanked company’s management for choosing SEZ “Alabuga” as the construction site.
Rustam Minnikhanov promised that Tatarstan leadership will render overall support.
President of Armstrong World Industries Matthew Espe thanked Rustam Minnikhanov for his personal support and support on the part of republican authorities. He also expressed gratitude to Deputy Minister of regional development Sergey Darkin and Director General of OAO “Special economic zones” Mikhail Trushko.
In the interview after the ceremony Mikhail Trushko called SEZ “Alabuga” the leader among all economic zones in Russia.
On 10 March, speaking at a briefing dedicated to the development of the national Max messenger in Tatarstan and held in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Digitalization of Public Administration, Information Technologies and Communication of the republic Ilya Nachvin informed that according to the data of March 2026 about 1.5m residents of Tatarstan use domestic Max messenger.
On 5 February Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in ceremony of awarding winners of the regional competition “The Woman of the Year. The Man of the Year: A Woman’s View” held at the Korston Leisure and Recreation Center in Kazan.
On 4 March at a briefing in the Government House of the republic Tatarstan Minister of Land and Property Relation Fanil Agliullin told about changes in land legislation enforced from 1 March of the current year. He said that they simplify a number of procedures for land plot owners including expanding the possibilities for land use and changing the rules for changing the category of a plot.
On 2 March in her address on the occasion of the Mentor’s Day, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva congratulated residents of the republic with the event and wrote: “Since 2025 this holiday established by Russian President Vladimir Putin has occupied a worthy place in the calendar of significant dates of our country, emphasizing the high status and significance of the mentoring mission.
