Rustam Minnikhanov launches Ford Explorer production in Yelabuga

President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov participated in startup of Ford Explorer production at Ford Sollers plant in Yelabuga. Director General of Sollers company Vadim Shvetsov, President and CEO of Ford Sollers Ted Cannis, first Vice-president and CEO of Ford Sollers Adil Shirinov, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Aleksei Rakhmanov participated in a solemn ceremony.
The first car - Ford Explorer Sport was received to the applause of the audience. Ford Sollers is introducing many advanced technologies, including safety engineering and industrial standards. “Republican authorities have always supported such producers,” Rustam Minnikhanov said. He continued that educational institutions will pay special attention to programmes for training specialists for automotive industry.
Ted Cannis said: “Here you can see real partnership. It was the quickest startup of production among Ford plants. However, quality has always been a priority issue for us, as well car safety system.”
To the point, assembly of Ford cars at Ford Sollers plant in Yelabuga started in 2012. Kuga, S-MAX, Galaxy and Transit cars are produced at the enterprise. Total sum of investments in production will make more than 100 mln dollars. About 1500 people currently work at the plant.
On 10 March, speaking at a briefing dedicated to the development of the national Max messenger in Tatarstan and held in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Digitalization of Public Administration, Information Technologies and Communication of the republic Ilya Nachvin informed that according to the data of March 2026 about 1.5m residents of Tatarstan use domestic Max messenger.
On 5 February Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in ceremony of awarding winners of the regional competition “The Woman of the Year. The Man of the Year: A Woman’s View” held at the Korston Leisure and Recreation Center in Kazan.
On 4 March at a briefing in the Government House of the republic Tatarstan Minister of Land and Property Relation Fanil Agliullin told about changes in land legislation enforced from 1 March of the current year. He said that they simplify a number of procedures for land plot owners including expanding the possibilities for land use and changing the rules for changing the category of a plot.
On 2 March in her address on the occasion of the Mentor’s Day, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva congratulated residents of the republic with the event and wrote: “Since 2025 this holiday established by Russian President Vladimir Putin has occupied a worthy place in the calendar of significant dates of our country, emphasizing the high status and significance of the mentoring mission.
