Tatarstan President lays flowers to Gabdulla Tukai monument

Solemn flower-laying ceremony to the monument of a great Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukai was held today, on the poet’s birthday.

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, deputies of republican parliament, heads of ministries and agencies, representatives of artistic intelligentsia and guests of Tatarstan capital participated in the event.

Gabdulla Tukai (1886-1913) is an outstanding Tatar poet and literary critic, publicist and translator. Tukai was a great national poet. He created a framework of national poetry and its critical style. His name plays a special role in the history of Tatar culture.
