First World Congress on Ecosystem and Cultural Landscape Management to be held in Kazan in 2015

On May 14 Tatarstan State Counselor Mintimer Shaimiev met with Chairman of the Commission on Ecosystem Management of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature Piet Wit and professor of Estonian University of social studies Kalev Sepp.
In October 2012 Kalev Sepp visited Kazan as the expert of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature, the UNESCO consulting organisation. The visit was connected with work on inclusion of Bolgar and Sviyazhsk in UNESCO World Heritage List.
At first guests shared their impressions about Tatarstan sights – Sviyazhsk, Raifa Monastery, Volga-Kama state nature biosphere reserve, the Kazan Kremlin.
Mintimer Shaimiev reminded that during the last visit Kalev Sepp offered to discuss the issue of holding World Congress under the auspices of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature in Kazan. Tatarstan Government and President Rustam Minnikhanov supported the idea.
Mintimer Shaimiev believes that the World Congress dedicated to preservation of ecosystems and unique cultural landscapes will promote more careful attitude to nature.
Piet Wit told participants of the meeting about activity of the International Union for the Conservation of Nature and the Commission on Ecosystem Management. He stressed that Russian and Tatarstan rich experience in the sphere of conservation and rational use of natural and cultural heritage will be interesting for participants of the congress.
On May 15 representatives of the Commission will discuss organisation of the congress with Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov.
On 15 December, speaking at a meeting of the competition committee of the regional public competition “The Manager of the Year” about its results in 2025, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the list of 155 participants (nominees), who are heads of enterprises and organizations from various industries and sectors of the economy, for the competition was formed based on recommendations from regional ministries and departments, city and district municipalities, employers' associations and the Federation of Trade Unions of the republic.
On 6 December speaking at a regional meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the regional Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector Marat Ayzatullin reported about progress in implementation of the of multi-apartment houses capital overhaul programme.
On 5 December, congratulating volunteers with the International Volunteers Day, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva wrote in her address: “
Your boundless kindness, sincere desire to help others and active civic position deserve special recognition and deep gratitude. There are over 5,000 volunteer associations operating successfully in Tatarstan, with a total membership of over 220,000 caring people of all ages and professions. Every year the contribution of volunteers into public life of the republic becomes more noticeable.
On 4 December Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Gafarov, who is the Chief of Staff of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic, took part in a strategic session on the establishment of an inter-university campus in the republic being held at the Kazan Aircraft University on 4-6 December with participation of more than 100 people and more than 40 experts in politics, economy, science, education and industry from all over Russia.
