University of Hotel Management and Hospitality to be established in “Smart City Kazan”

On May 24 at a meeting of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov with Director General of a Singapore company Radiance Hospitality Group Yew Poh Leong company’s plans on opening the University of Hotel Management and Hospitality on the territory of “Smart City Kazan” were discussed.
The investment intention about participation of Radiance Hospitality Group in “Smart City Kazan” project was signed in March 2013 during the visit of Tatarstan delegation to Malaysia. Radiance Hospitality Group, the first resident of “Smart City Kazan”, will invest in construction of a transit hotel for 140 places, an apartment hotel and the University of Hotel Management and Hospitality.
Company’s Director General Yew Poh Leong has already held some meetings and negotiations concerning project implementation. He noted that company’s specialists saw that training of professionals in hotel business is necessary for Tatarstan. Therefore, they decided to open the university.
To the point, teaching at the university will be conducted in English in accordance with British, Australian, and Swiss programmes. London school of economy will be involved as a partner in the sphere of hotel management.
Yew Poh Leong asked Rustam Minnikhanov to help in solving problems connected with licensing of the university in Russia and provide necessary infrastructure.
Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, in his turn, underlined importance of “Smart City Kazan” project for the republic. He continued that modernization of the airport and launching of intermodal transportations open new opportunities for “Smart City Kazan” development.
Rustam Minnikhanov asked Tatarstan Agency of Investment Development and Ministry of Construction to decide on first start-up package of infrastructure objects.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
