U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Francisco Sánchez: “We should tell American businessmen about Tatarstan”

On June 20 at his meeting with Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Francisco Sánchez said that Tatarstan Republic is the example of good cooperation between the Russian Federation and USA in the sphere of trade and investments.

The meeting was held within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic forum.


According to Francisco Sánchez, Tatarstan demonstrates the example for running business and attraction of investments. He also informed about considering a possibility of arranging the business mission of American companies to Tatarstan.

“We should tell American businessmen about Tatarstan,” Francisco Sánchez said.

Rustam Minnikhanov thanked for the interest in Tatarstan and noted that Russian-American relations are currently developing in a positive way.

Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan puts much emphasis on cooperation with foreign partners. Thus, in 2012 the turnover between Tatarstan Republic and the USA increased by 20% and according to the results of the 1st quarter of 2013 it went up by 25%.

Rustam Minnikhanov said that a number of USA companies are currently running business in Tatarstan, such as Ford, Cummins, Federal Mogul, IBM, Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard, Dow Chemical, etc.

McDonalds and Coca-Cola are partners of the World Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan.

“We believe that Tatarstan innovation platforms can be attractive for American companies,” Rustam Minnikhanov said.

Then, he told in details about current projects, such as Innopolis satellite-city, Smart City Kazan, Alabuga special economic zone and other state-of-the-art industrial platforms.

Tatarstan President concluded that we need reliable partners for implementation of the projects and will provide the most favourable conditions for overseas investments.
