Singapore Vice-Premier: “Tatarstan differs from other Russian regions”

On June 22 an official Singapore delegation of Government officials, businessmen, representatives of different economic and industrial sectors, major Singapore and international companies led by Vice-Premier and Minster of Finances Tharman Shanmugaratnam visited Kazan IT park to take part in Tatarstan-Singapore Business Forum.
Welcoming participants of the forum, Ildar Khalikov said that Tatarstan is the only Russian region where all government employees undertook internship in Singapore. He continued that many Singapore practices were introduced in Tatarstan. Moreover, the master plan of a major Tatarstan project, - Innopolis was developed by a Singapore company.
During the event Ildar Khalikov told about Tatarstan economic potential. Innopolis and SMART City Kazan projects were also presented to members of the delegation.
Singapore Vice-Premier and Minster of Finances Tharman Shanmugaratnam, in his turn, said that Singapore is interested in cooperation with Tatarstan as the most economically developed regions in Russia. Since 2009 a number of memorandums in the sphere of education, “Electronic Government”, development of special economic zones, and public administration had been signed between Singapore and Tatarstan.
Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov, First Vice-Premier Ravil Muratov, Minister of Information and Communication Roman Shaikhutdinov, Chief Executive of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Linar Yakupov took part in the event.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
