On June 4, in the village of Kadryakovo of Agryz region of the republic, Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan Roman Shaykhutdinov took part in the festive events of the festival of Mari culture “Semyk”, which is one of the most significant holidays of the Mari, where the rituals related to the cult of ancestors, agriculture, family and marriage relations are concentrated. In Tatarstan, Semyk has been held on a regional level since 1990.
On behalf of Tatarstan President, the State Council of the republic and the Government of Tatarstan, Shaykhutdinov welcomed the participants: “I am glad to see everyone at this wonderful holiday of Mari culture Semyk - in the Year of Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia its celebration has special significance! For the republic Semyk is an significant platform of intercultural dialogue, contributing to the preservation of peace between peoples, spiritual revival of folk traditions, identification of new talents and teams. It is an event that is addressed to a broad segment of our population – both young people and representatives of the older generation. It is a holiday aimed at preserving and developing the art of the Mari people as an intangible cultural heritage of Tatarstan and Russia”.
At the end of his welcoming speech, Shaykhutdinov expressed gratitude to the leadership of the region, its residents and guests for the desire and ability to maintain and preserve the folk traditions and wished everyone a good mood and optimism.
