Rustam Minnikhanov and Sergey Tsivilev become guests of Miners’ Sabantuy

On June 26, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Governor of the Kemerovo region – Kuzbass Sergey Tsivilev became honoured guests of the second International Miners' Sabantuy in the city of Novokuznetsk.

Today, more than 40,000 Tatars live in the Kemerovo region. Among the Tatars of Kuzbass there are all known miners Heroes of Socialist Labor Shaekh Zaynutdinov and Gilmutdin Idrisov, Hero of the Soviet Union Hamza Mukhammadiev, laureate of the USSR State Prize Gakiy Fazalov, Honored doctor of Russia and honorary citizen of Kemerovo region Ilgiz Galeev and many others.

Last year marked the 300th anniversary of the beginning of the development of Kuzbass and under the conditions of coronavirus restrictions, the first International Miners’ Sabantuy was held. Next year it is planned to hold the Federal Sabantuy Holiday in Kuzbass in the city of Kemerovo.

Honored guests from all mining regions of Russia and honored miners from Donbass, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan arrived at International Miners' Sabantuy.

At the festive events, Minnikhanov and Tsivilev looked around national courtyards and sites of arts and crafts, where the national cultural autonomies and diasporas living in the Kemerovo region presented their culture and traditions to the guests. The Tatar holiday Sabantuy in Novokuznetsk is organized with the active participation and interaction with the Leninogorsk region of Tatarstan.

A colorful solemn opening ceremony started with the joint performances of the creative teams of Tatarstan and Kuzbass. The real decoration of the ceremony was the largest mass «Khorovod of Friendship» performed by representatives of 150 nationalities living in the Kemerovo region. The official part of the opening ceremony of the second International Miners' Sabantuy started with the welcoming speech of Governor of the Kemerovo Region - Kuzbass and Tatarstan President: “Sabantuy is a meeting place of good friends. It attracts the participants with a hospitable atmosphere, the joy of friendly communication, the unique spirit of wrestling and fervent excitement of folk games. This is one of the most anticipated and favorite events of the year for Tatars”.

Then they handed in regional awards of Tatarstan and Kuzbass to the most active representatives of the national and cultural autonomy of the Tatars of the Kemerovo region, who made a significant contribution to the socio-economic development of the region and the strengthening of friendship and harmony among peoples.
