Dmitry Medvedev and Rustam Minnikhanov hold bilateral meeting

On July 17 at their meeting in Kazan Chairman of Russian Government Dmitry Medvedev and Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov summarized the results of 27th World Summer Universiade.
The meeting took place at the International Information Center in Universiade Village.
Dmitry Medvedev opened the meeting by saying that in his opinion the Universiade was a success. “In my opinion, everything has been done very well. I hope that the final day will also be very successful for our national team and everyone who is taking part in the Universiade,” Chairman of Russian Government said.
He noted that within the last few years Kazan had significantly changed while preparing for Students games.
Rustam Minnikhanov, in his turn, noted obvious results after 5 years of preparation for the Games.
“Now we see the new city. Everything has been done for our people. We demonstrated the identity and the power of our country. We made our city more comfortable,” Tatarstan President said.
According to Tatarstan President, it would take 15 years to perform such a large modernization of the city without the government support.
He added that the Universiade brought Tatarstan and Russia together. Universiade Torch Relay was held in 30 Russian cities and celebrated like a public holiday.
“I am very grateful to Russian President, Dmitry Anatolievich, Chairman of Organizing Committee Igor Shuvalov, and Minister of Sport. Everything has been done well. We all have passed an important exam. I think, that we must have good results at Winter Olympic Games and we will do our best,” Tatarstan President said.
Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev also thanked those who took part in the Universiade. “Let me thank Tatarstan and Kazan citizens for their hospitality. Universiade is the most uniting event,” Chairman of Russian government said.
On 1 April Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Russian Minister of Healthcare Mikhail Murashko introduced Ayrat Farrakhov, who was appointed the Acting Rector of Kazan State Medical University (KSMU) to its staff.
In his speech Mikhail Murashko emphasized that today KSMU is rightfully considered one of the most respected in the country and said:”Ayrat (Zakievich) has been officially appointed the Acting Rector and I am sure that under his leadership the University will maintain the positions it has achieved and, of course, will continue its development.”
On 31 March in the Government House of the republic Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva hold a meeting of the Commission on the Russian language under the Rais of Tatarstan, which considered key issues of supporting and developing Russian language, including new educational initiatives and discussed programmes of popularization of Russian literature and activities to preserve the language heritage.
On 28 March, speaking at a meeting held by Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin in the Government House of the republic with participation of the Acting Chairman of the State Council of the republic Marat Akhmetov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the regional Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Azat Ziganshin informed that the regional central cleaning up action will be held in the republic on 25 April and clarified that the location of the national cleanup day will be announced later as the site will be chosen taking into account the opinions of Tatarstan residents.
On 28 March, speaking at a meeting held by Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin in the Government House of the republic with participation of the regional and the Acting Chairman of the State Council of the republic Marat Akhmetov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the regional Deputy Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector Damir Shaydullin informed about statistics on the collection of utility bills payments from the population and data on the payment discipline of enterprises and organizations of the republic.
