Innopolis will establish a competences center of the Gazprom chief scientific center GAZPROM VNIIGAZ

Following a meeting of the Innopolis Special Economic Zone (SEZ) Supervisory Board held by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov in the regional Cabinet of Ministers on 17 October, Transnational Power Company Gazprom VNIIGAS has become a partner of the SEZ and is planning to establish a center of competences for interaction with scientific organizations and IT companies of Tatarstan.

The main product to be developed by the VNIIGAS in the IT city is a smart system of supporting decision making in controlling integrity and technical state of Gazprom industrial facilities. Its prototype is an already developed system of supporting technical diagnostics of pipelines developed by Innopolis University together with the VNIIGAS, which uses AI and machine learning technologies.

Such system is capable of checking and processing data automatically and calculating time of pipeline faults formation by the unique methodic developed by the VNIIGAS  on the basis of results of physical and chemical simulation. It has already been tested by specialists of the Institute and will be scaled up cutting data recognition time 100 fold.

Talking to journalists, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov said: “For us it is very important that the largest fuel and energy company of Russia as its structural unit has come to Innopolis. We have been closely interacting with the Gazprom in carrying out research work for several years now and today the company will open its special unit which together with the IT-university will be developing new products for oil and gas sector of the whole Group of companies”.

In his turn Director General of the Gazprom VNIIGAS Maksim Nedzvetskiy said: “ Currently Tatarstan in the whole and Innopolis in particular are drivers of the development of the IT branch in our country and successfully implement federal programmes of the digital transformation of economy. It has become a key factor for choosing the site for our specialized unit which will take part in R&D of digital products for gas sector”.
