Results of Summer Universiade 2013 summarized at Tatarstan Government House

On July 23 results of Summer Universiade 2013 were summarized at a traditional briefing at Tatarstan Government House. The event was held in video conference format with participation of all municipalities and broadcasted on the official government website www.prav.tatarstan.ru.
Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov said that according to members of FISU Executive Committee Universiade was organized properly and on the highest level.
Ildar Khalikov noted that 11778 people from 160 countries took part in Summer Universiade 2013 in Kazan. Competitions were held in 27 sports, athletes competed for 351 sets of medals. 150 thousand guests and tourists came to Kazan during Universiade. 19970 volunteers were involved in the Games. 50 hotels, 8 motor ships, 22 accommodation facilities and 4 houses built under social mortgage programme were used to provide accommodation for guests. Sportsmen lived in Universiade Village.
Ildar Khalikov added that sportsmen noted high level of catering services that were provided for 543104 people. 30 thousand employees of law enforcement bodies were involved in ensuring security during Universiade. 55 emergency brigades worked to provide medical services.
Ildar Khalikov continued that 525 buses and 1051 cars were used for transportation of sportsmen and participants.
Universiade competitions were broadcasted in 100 countries. 1 bln people watched the Opening Ceremony and 1,5 bln people - the Closing Ceremony on TV.
104512 calls were received at Universiade contact centre.
Souvenirs were very popular among guests, 300 thousand items were sold during the Games.
780 thousand tickets for competitions, Opening and Closing Ceremonies were sold.
76 Universiade records were set during competitions.
Tatarstan Minister of Youth Affairs, Sport and Tourism Rafis Burganov told in details about competitions and medals.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
