Driving speed to be limited to 40 km/h in places of frequent road accidents

On August 10 Head of State Road Traffic Inspectorate Rifkat Minnikhanov held a session of government commission on road safety at Tatarstan Government House. Accident rate, prevention of road accidents and measures on decreasing the number of injuries, ensuring of safety of passenger transportation and organization of work on bringing access roads, pedestrian crossings near educational institutions in normal condition were discussed at the session.
Deputy Head of State Road Traffic Inspectorate Maskhut Miftakhov informed that the situation on roads is still rather difficult. 2631 road accidents were registered for seven months in the republic. 389 people died and 3376 were injured. The increase of accident rate was registered in Agryz, Aktanysh, Menzelinsk, Nizhnekamsk, Rybnaya Sloboda and Spassky regions.
Main reasons of accidents are serious traffic offences, driving on the wrong side, breaking of rules by pedestrians. As usual high share of accidents is observed because of unsatisfactory state of roads.
Maskhut Miftakhov was not satisfied with work of the commission on ensuring road safety and noted that the real situation is different. He continued that Tatarstan ministries and agencies do not work efficiently enough to increase road safety.
Rifkat Minnikhanov also focused on the role of mass media in promotion of road safety. He noted that activity of journalists is not so efficient. To improve the situation it was suggested to activate work with public organisations and media agencies, and increase the use of video registration.
Rifkat Minnikhanov proposed to introduce speed limits (40-50 km/h) in places of frequent road accidents.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
