Igor Shuvalov visits IT lyceum in Kazan

On September 2 First Vice-Premier of Russian Government Igor Shuvalov, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and Minister of Education and Science Engel Fattakhov visited IT lyceum in Kazan.

It is a specialized school with enhanced studying of natural sciences for talented children of 7-11 forms. The lyceum opened on September 1st in 2012 in Universiade Village. 34 teachers, who passed training provided by a Singapore company Educare, work at the institution.

IT lyceum represents a complex of educational building and a boarding school, there are 36 classrooms and 3 laboratories, English classroom, language laboratory, classroom of fine arts, etc.

The education modernization programme developed by Educare company was presented to Igor Shuvalov. He noted that the programme includes adoption of international standards A-level, IB. First Vice-Premier of Russian Government supposes that foreign programmes should be combined with traditional Russian smart programmes in the sphere of exact sciences.

The professional development programme for English teachers that is implemented in cooperation with EF School was also presented to Igor Shuvalov. 3300 teachers have already passed this training, and therefore the average score at the State Unified Exam this year was 81, whereas last year it was 62. EF School also launched the online programme for studying the Tatar language.

First Vice-Premier of Russian Government was told about plans on establishing an international school in Tatarstan.
