Rustam Minnikhanov visits Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard Quantum Optics Centre

On September 16 during his working visit to Boston within the framework of Russian Innovative Week Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge (Massachusetts).
Founded in 1861, Massachusetts Institute of Technology has become one of key research and educational centres in America. Students study engineering sciences, humanities, and social studies. The institute is mostly known for robot technologies and IT department. There are 10-11 thousand students and more than 1000 teachers who carry out academic and research work at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
A number of high technology projects were presented to Rustam Minnikhanov during his visit ot the institute.
Pro-rector of Massachusetts Institute of Technology Philipp Korn told about the institute’s history, teaching staff, and development of business environment.
Professor Martin Smith presented projects in the sphere of energy, micro and nano technologies.
Robert Stoner, Co-Director of the project of energy initiatives told about energy and energy saving projects.
Professor Douglas Hurt presented researches in the sphere of fluid mechanics, visualization and optical diagnostics in medical and environmental protection industries.
Members of Tatarstan delegation asked about monitoring of student’s activity after graduation, commercialization of students’ projects.
The same day Rustam Minnikhanov visited Harvard Quantum Optics Center that deals with promotion of research and education in the sphere of quantum optics. The center’s development plans are to intensify cooperation with European leading quantum centers.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
