23 September 2013, Monday
On September 23 during his working trip to Myanmar Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited Shwedagon pagoda, a 98-metre gilded Buddhist stupa in Yangon.

It is the most sacred Buddhist pagoda in Myanmar with relics of the past four Buddhas enshrined within: the staff of Kakusandha, the water filter of Koṇāgamana, a piece of the robe of Kassapa and eight strands of hair from Gautama. The complex located on 5-hectare area contains main pagoda, images of usual and unusual animals, golden griffins, sphinxes, dragons and lions. The form of pagoda looks like the inverted almsbowl with a golden steeple on the top that belonged to Buddha.

An excursion around the complex was organized for Rustam Minnikhanov and members of Tatarstan delegation. Rustam Minnikhanov left a note in a book of honourable guests.

After the excursion Tatarstan President said that he was impressed by the pagoda and the country.
