Rustam Minnikhanov delivers speech at 8th Russia-Singapore business forum

On September 24 Tatarstan delegation took part in Russia-Singapore business forum. Forum’s CEO Michael Tay and Chairman of Singapore Business Federation Tony Chew welcomed participants of the forum. Tony Chew said that warm economic relationships have been established between Russia and Singapore.
The first session of Russia-Singapore business forum opened by the speech of Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance Tharman Shanmugaratnam. Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam said that businessmen from the Republic of Tatarstan, Primorye region, Krasnodar and Pskov are taking part in the forum.
The second session opened by the special speech of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov “Tatarstan-Singapore experience”. The President started by saying thanks for an opportunity to deliver the speech at 8th Russia-Singapore business forum and tell about cooperation between Tatarstan and Singapore.
He said that as one of Russia’s leading regions Tatarstan has rich history of relationships with Singapore. Rustam Minnikhanov noted that a number of mutual fruitful visits took place within the last few years, including his meetings with Singapore first Prime Minister Mr Lee Kuan Yew.
Rustam Minnikhanov continued that educational, innovation and IT spheres are the most efficient areas of cooperation. He mentioned the project of territorially detached innovation centre “Innopolis” that is currently implemented in Tatarstan. Moreover, within the framework of cooperation with ST Electronics, IDA International и International Enterprise Singapore joint work is carried out on establishing data centres, intellectual transport systems, and emergency response systems, electronic government. Tatarstan is one of the leading regions in Russia by the amount of attracted investments.
Rustam Minnikhanov said that cooperation with Singapore is very important for Tatarstan , and he thanked Singapore partners for their experience, knowledge and participation in joint projects.
After the session Rustam Minnikhanov answered questions of ITAR-TASS correspondents.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
