Tatarstan President: “Agricultural universities should train students who are ready to work in the country”

On October 12 at a weekly video conference meeting at Tatarstan Government House Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan agricultural universities and colleges should focus on training specialists which are in demand in the regional agricultural industry.
In his report Tatarstan Vice-Premier – Minister of Agriculture and Food Marat Akhmetov told about training specialists for the agricultural industry. He reported that the industry is lack of some categories of skilled workers in some regions. At the same time, the potential of regional agricultural educational complex can meet the needs of the industry for all qualification levels, the Minister pointed out.
“Every year 1200-1400 students graduate from universities and 500-600 people finish colleges. But only every fifth graduate works in the country. In 2012-2013 only 358 graduates stayed in the country,” Marat Akhmetov complained.
Rustam Minnikhanov is sure that the youth will go back to the country only if they see any prospects.
At the same time he stressed the role of the educational institutions. “Our universities should concentrate on those students who will really go back to the country. We need people at sites, and universities should train those students who are ready to work in the country,” Tatarstan President said.
Rustam Minnikhanov offered to include the share of graduates who found work according to their background into evaluation criteria of universities. According to Tatarstan President, this is one the most important factors for educational institutions who train specialists for economic sectors.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
