Ildar Khalikov: Tatarstan needs to keep attracting tourists as it was during Universiade

On October 17 at the II Kazan international tourism forum “Benchmarks of the future” (October 17-19, Korston) Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov said that Tatarstan needs to keep attracting tourists as it was during Universiade.
Welcoming participants of the forum on behalf of Tatarstan Government and President, Ildar Khalikov noted that currently tourism has different meanings for Tatarstan. First of all, it gives an opportunity to become internationally recognized and develop tourism as an independent business structure.
For the last four years much money has been invested into tourism industry and preservation of historical and cultural monuments due to initiative of the first Tatarstan President and State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev.
Ildar Khalikov also noted that the World Summer Universiade 2013 greatly influenced development of tourism in Tatarstan.
Ildar Khalikov continued that business tourism is also developing in Tatarstan. Different forums, conferences, and other business events are held in the republic. Participants of these events go sightseeing, see historical and cultural monuments.
Deputy Head of Federal Tourism Agency Dmitry Amunts informed that work on improving quality of tourism services and staff training is underway. He noted that Federal Tourism Agency and Tatarstan will soon sign an agreement under which Tatarstan will be a pilot region to test new tourism technologies.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
