On 19 November at a briefing held in the Government House of Tatarstan representatives of Kazan Federal University informed journalists about celebrations of the 220th birthday of University, which was on 17 November when the staff got congratulatory letters from Russian President Vladimir Putin and the Rais of the republic Rustam Minnikhanov, and promising spheres of the university development.
In his congratulatory letter Vladimir Putin wrote: “The University is especially proud of a bright cohort of its gifted graduates who have made a huge contribution into the development of domestic economy and medicine, education and science and found themselves in teaching and public spheres and the state and military service.”
In his turn Rustam Minnikhanov emphasized that Kazan Federal University is among the most authoritative Russian universities. “History of the famous university was written by outstanding scientists who became pioneers in a number of branches of learning and famous graduates who have achieved great success in various spheres. Today the University is among leading domestic multi-disciplined universities, which testifies about its strong authority and great achievements in scientific and educational work. It is important that alongside with traditional spheres it implements new programmes aimed at solving important tasks the academic community, the republic and the country are facing,” he wrote.
Speaking to journalists, the Rector of the University Lenar Safin said: “We are very proud that our University has been marked as one of the leading in the country. We will have many honorary guests coming to our celebrations.” He informed that main events dedicated to the jubilee are planned for 21-23 November to be held with participation of the Russian Deputy Head of the Government Dmitriy Chernyshenko, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the country Valeriy Falkov, the Counselor to the Russian President Igor Levitin and the Aid to the Russia President Vladimir Medinskiy.
The Vice-rector in Foreign Affairs Timirkhan Alishev and the Vice Rector in Innovations Work Dmitriy Pashin informed journalists about plans of the university in broadening international cooperation and applied projects implemented by the university in chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
