Rustam Minnikhanov and Netherlands Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport discuss new areas of cooperation

On November 5 at their meeting in Kazan Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Netherlands Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport Ms. Edith Schippers discussed new areas of cooperation.
The representative delegation of Netherlands led by Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport Ms. Edith Schippers arrived in Kazan within the framework of the visit of Netherlands King and his wife to Russia, who took part in closing of the Year of Netherlands in Russia in Moscow (November, 8).
Welcoming guests, Rustam Minnikhanov noted that Holland is one of important trade and economic partners of Tatarstan among European countries. The trade turnover between Tatarstan and Holland made 3 bln Euro in 2013. Rustam Minnikhanov thanked country’s leadership for providing favourable conditions for partnership.
Tatarstan President reminded that in April 2013 he took part in cross-year of Netherlands in Russia and Russian in Netherlands. At the same time, as Chairman of the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia, Rustam Minnikhanov signed a number of documents on cooperation between Russia and Netherlands, including Agreement of intent between the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia, non-profit organisation Task Force Health Care, Agreement of intent between the Association of Innovative Regions of Russia and The Technopolicy Network, Memorandum of cooperation between Tatarstan Ministry of Health and DSM Nutritional Products Europe Ltd.
Rustam Minnikhanov noted that cooperation between Tatarstan and Netherlands may be developed in health care, agriculture, and engineering spheres.
Netherlands Minister of Health, Welfare and Sport Ms. Edith Schippers expressed interest in cooperation with Tatarstan. She also informed that today the quality of life and public health are priority areas in Netherlands. Electronic health services and high technology medical aid are rapidly developing. She told in details about mobile home clinics that are being established in the country.
Representatives of Task Force Health Care, Simed Healthcare Group BV, Philips, DSM Eastern Europe companies made short presentations during the meeting.
On 12 April in his address to residents of the republic, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin congratulated them with the Space Exploration Day and said: “April 12, 1961 has forever been inscribed into the world history as the day of triumph of the Soviet science and engineering thought. The flight of Yuriy Gagarin opened the way to the stars for the humankind and demonstrated to the whole world the might of our country.
On 4 April , speaking at a closing ceremony of the XX Russian Venture Forum held at the Kazan Expo Exhibition Center, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the Russian Venture Forum has confirmed its status of the point of attraction of technological development leaders.
The Forum created a unified scientific, technological and investment space where scientific ideas are transformed into competitive products, and startups gain access to capital and markets. Its business programme is organically integrated into the regional and federal agenda for achieving technological sovereignty and leadership of Russia, he said.
On 1 April Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Russian Minister of Healthcare Mikhail Murashko introduced Ayrat Farrakhov, who was appointed the Acting Rector of Kazan State Medical University (KSMU) to its staff.
In his speech Mikhail Murashko emphasized that today KSMU is rightfully considered one of the most respected in the country and said:”Ayrat (Zakievich) has been officially appointed the Acting Rector and I am sure that under his leadership the University will maintain the positions it has achieved and, of course, will continue its development.”
On 31 March in the Government House of the republic Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva hold a meeting of the Commission on the Russian language under the Rais of Tatarstan, which considered key issues of supporting and developing Russian language, including new educational initiatives and discussed programmes of popularization of Russian literature and activities to preserve the language heritage.
