Rustam Nigmatullin: Tatarstan attaches serious attention to prevention of drug abuse among teenagers and young people

On 26 June in his address on the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, Tatarstan First Deputy Prime Minister Rustam Nigmatullin, who is also the Chairman of Anti-Drug Commission of the republic, said: “On 26 June the world community celebrates the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking the main aim of which is to attract attention of all states and the world community to this problem

Our country actively uses opportunities of international cooperation for solving this problem and takes continuous and real steps for the improvement of the state anti-drug policy and the development of the regulations in this sphere.

Targeted measures taken in the republic made it possible to organize a drug fighting system which includes a number of measures aimed at stopping illicit trafficking and raising the efficiency of treatment and rehabilitation of drug addicts.”

Having listed all measures taken in the republic to prevent drug abuse, Rustam Nigmatullin concluded: “The global drug threat cannot be dealt with alone. The solution of this problem requires cohesion and cooperation between state and municipal authorities, public organizations, cultural figures, and all civil society institutions.

Only joint efforts, common sense and goodwill will help stop the growth of drug addiction and reduce the harmful effects of illegal drug trafficking.”
