On September 8, speaking at a meeting of the organizing committee and jury members of the XXI Kazan International Film Festival "Altyn Minbar", which was held in the capital of Tatarstan from September 5 to 9 under the motto "Through the dialogue of cultures - to the culture of dialogue", Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Vasil Shaykhraziev, who chaired this meeting, thanked the jury members for their attention to the festival and noted its growing authority. "The Kazan International Film Festival continues to develop, its geography and number of participants are expanding. This year we are celebrating a record number of applications, which indicates the importance of our forum," he emphasized.
In 2025, filmmakers from 67 countries in Europe, Asia, America and even Australia submitted 845 works to the competition. The selection committee formed a shortlist of the best films for five main competition programs. These include full-length feature films, documentaries and short films, animation, as well as the "National Competition" nomination, which this year included 14 films from Tatarstan producers.
The international jury of this year festival is headed by Resul Pookutty, an Indian film director and sound designer, who won an Oscar for Slumdog Millionaire film.
Together with him, experts from Russia, Oman, China, Egypt, Nigeria, Uzbekistan, Iran and other countries will evaluate the works. "Altyn Minbar" is included in the list of film projects supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, and is held with the support of the Rais of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov, as well as in partnership with the strategic vision group "Russia - Islamic World".
