On 20 September, speaking at a regular meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov with participation of the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and the Chairman of the State Council of the republic Farid Mukhametshin in the Government House of the republic, with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the regional Minister of Agriculture and Food Marat Zyabbarov informed that the grain harvest has entered its final stages in the republic and approximately 40 000 hectares remain to be threshed.
He reported that 13 regions have already completed grain harvest with the remaining ten to finish it in several days and in total 1m 188 thousand hectares or 97 per cent of the area were harvested and 4.5v tonnes of grain threshed in the republic.
The regional Minister informed about 44 hectares of maize to be harvested and 117 thousand hectares of canola already threshed and added that simultaneously farmers are harvesting potatoes, sugar beet and vegetables with 530 hectares already harvested with an average yield of 192 centners per hectare.
Marat Zyabbarov told that this year soy was sowed on 62 thousand hectares as one of promising crops for the republic and asked farmers to finish harvest of spring crops and winter sowing by the end of the next week as the weather forecast is substantial rain.
He also reported that currently 69 per cent of the planned forage has been conserved and it is planned to conserve about 4m tonnes of silage.
Marat Zyabbarov informed that agricultural fairs have started their work from 13 September on 14 sites of Kazan, 2 – in Naberezhnyye Chelny and Zelenodolsk regions and 3 sites in Nizhnekamsk region and expressed his gratitude to municipalities, processing enterprises and agribusiness and cooperatives for their active participation in ensuring the range and quality of products sold on fairs.
