Rustam Minnikhanov: We are glad to host Eurasian events, ready to share our experience and study practices of our colleagues

On November 29 at a session of a public forum “Eurasian economic integration: achievements and problems” (Kazan, Korston), Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that creation of Customs Union between, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Russia and its reformation into the Eurasian economic union is one of priority tasks announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

To the point, the forum is organized by Rossotrudnichestvo and Tatarstan Government by initiative of “Eurasian dialogue” under Russian parliament European club. Representatives of 40 public organisations from 18 Eurasian companies are taking part in the forum.

Chairman of Russian State Duma Sergey Naryshkin is taking part in the second day of the forum.

Welcoming guests, Rustam Minnikhanov said that all meetings, roundtables, seminar held within these two days showed high interest of participants towards Eurasian problems. He believes there is high potential to expand cooperation today.

Rustam Minnikhanov reminded that Tatarstan is one of leading industrial and innovative regions in Russia, interested in attracting state-of-the-art technologies, rapid modernization of industry, and increase of innovative and personnel potential.

Tatarstan President told about innovative infrastructure, high technology parks, business incubators, venture funds, Special Economic Zone “Alabuga” where 70 per cent of all goods of Russian special economic zones are produced. He also mentioned Inopolis and Smart-City Kazan as the most breakthrough projects.

Rustam Minnikhanov noted that according to leading rating agencies, Tatarstan is one of the most prosperous regions in Russia in terms of investment climate, and the best region for doing business. He continued that sport plays an important role in bring people together, and summer Universiade 2013 was the most large-scale in history of student sport games.

In November 2013, at the International Sports Event Management Awards-2013, Kazan was announced the best city for hosting international sports events, alongside with London, Dubai and Oakland.

Rustam Minnikhanov reminded that Kazan is getting ready to host World Aquatics Championship in 2015, World Football Cup 2018.

Construction of international transport corridor “Europe-West China” is a strategically important project that will favour development of trade and economic relations between Russia and Kazakhstan, Europe and Asia, Rustam Minnikhanov also said.
