Rustam Minnikhanov: Modern realities require efficient work in the sphere of counteraction to extremism, illegal migration and corruption

On December 20 Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov congratulated employees of Tatarstan Department of Federal Security Service on the Day of security guards of Russia.

“Today we express gratitude and pay tribute to those who ensure security of our Motherland, protect rights and freedoms of our citizens. Security services have always played an important role in protection of national interests, liquidation of threats to its sovereignty, and territorial integrity. Stability and peace in Tatarstan depend on your experience and professional skills to see ahead. This year employees of Tatarstan Department of Federal Security Service and other law enforcement bodies ensured security during high-level political, public and sports events,” Tatarstan President said.

Rustam Minnikhanov noted that security guards took complex measures and achieved results on counteraction to terrorism and religious extremism. He also mentioned tragic death of Lieutenant General Aleksandr Antonov, who made a considerable contribution to the department’s achievements.

“Today we are facing serious tasks. Modern realities require efficient work in the sphere of counteraction to extremism, illegal migration and corruption. We have to immediately response to illegal actions that cause destabilization of the situation in society, increase efficiency of investigation and efficiency of counterintelligence operations, and improve interdepartmental interaction of law enforcement bodies,” Rustam Minnikhanov said.

The President also focused on increasing control of migration flows saying that it affects public and political situation in the republic, and result in inflow of different extremist movements.

Summing up, Tatarstan President thanked employees of Tatarstan Department of Federal Security Service for honourable service and expressed gratitude to veterans. He wished everyone health, wellbeing, and peace.
