Tatarstan Minister of Agriculture and Food reports about harvest progress

On 25 July, reporting about the harvest progress in the republic at a meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic , the regional Minister of Agriculture and Food Marat Zyabbarov informed that 35 regions have already begun threshing winter wheat and six regions  - winter rapeseed.

He also informed that the Chitopolskaya farm has started harvesting early potatoes and told about amount of moisture of the winter grain and rapeseed.

The area to be harvested for winter rapeseed across the republic is 32 thousand hectares which is twice more than last year, while the sowing plan for the current year exceeds 60 thousand hectares, the Minister said and added that the culture is new and promising for the republic. Yields are 1.5 to 2 times higher than those of spring crops and early harvesting makes it possible to generate the funds needed for the harvest, he noted.

Marat Zyabbarov also informed about the number of grain dryers and elevators in the republic.

Speaking about livestock forage, he said that farms in 26 regions are harvesting the second cut of perennial grasses, with 317 thousand tonnes of hay and 1m 899thousand tonnes of haylage have already been conserved.
