Tatarstan Road Safety Commission: the results of work for 11 months in 2008

Shamil Gafarov, Head of RT Cabinet Office held videoconference meeting of Tatarstan Road Safety Commission. All municipal districts took part in the meeting.
Rifkat Minnikhanov, Head of State Road Safety Inspection Administration under RT Ministry of Interior reported on realization of federal target program “Improvement of road safety in 2006-2012” in Tatarstan. This program was approved on February, 6, 2006 (Decree of the Russian Government).
In its turn, Tatarstan Government confirmed organization-practical measures to improve road safety. Rifkat Minnikhanov announced that certain results have been achieved for 11 months in 2008. Analysis of accident rate testifies about the decrease of road accidents and injured people in comparison with 2006.
More than 20 items of material and technical aids for the sum of 312 million RUR were received from federal centre. More than 2 billion RUR were allocated from republic budget for federal target program.
Moreover, Rifkat Minnikhanov informed that some municipal districts didn’t follow the requirements while developing their own road safety programs. The main disadvantages are the usage of old program structures and absence of the documents which confirm program financing.
Rustam Nigmatullin, First Deputy Head of Kazan Executive Committee told that the roads for the sum of 4 billion RUR were repaired and constructed, 4 new pedestrian crossings were put into operation, and 1020 traffic signs were fixed in 2008.
Summing up, the members of Commission confirmed the working plan for 2009.
On 9 June upon his arrival to the Kazan International Airport, the Russian Minister for Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov was welcomed by Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin.
In Kazan Sergey Lavrov will take part in a meeting of the Council of Ministers for Foreign Affairs of State-Participants of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO).
On 5 May, speaking at a regular meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with participation of the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector of the republic Marat Ayzatullin informed that currently 63 school catering units are under repairs with the amount of work completed reaching 15 per cent.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
