Rustam Minnikhanov: “Potential of Tatarstan higher school is not completely revealed yet”

On December 27 at a traditional meeting with rectors of higher educational institutions Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that important tasks are to be fulfilled by higher educational institutions, and their potential enables doing it.
Opening the meeting, Rustam Minnikhanov noted that 2013 was not an easy year for the republic. “We successfully held Universiade, and our higher educational institutions took an active part in the event. Many universities updated their material and technical base,” he said.
Tatarstan President underlined that Tatarstan higher educational institutions are successfully developing and implementing major projects. At the same time, high quality of specialist training should be provided.
Rustam Minnikhanov believes that educational system is the guarantee of a region’s competitiveness, and investors appreciate presence of qualified specialists. He called higher schools for taking into account experience of global research and educational centres, attract young talented people from other regions.
Summing up, Rustam Minnikhanov thanked heads of Tatarstan higher schools for team work with the Government and Tatarstan President’s Office.
Rector of Kazan federal university, in his turn, thanked Tatarstan President for the meeting and briefly told about activity of the university in 2013.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
