Greetings of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov on Christmas Day
6 January 2014, Monday
Dear Orthodox Christians!
I sincerely congratulate you on Christmas day!
All Christians are celebrating a bright, life-affirming holiday that announces the birth of the Savior. For thousands of years He has given us faith in good and justice, taught us to be merciful and forgive, brought hope for the best.
Christians, Muslims and representatives of other religions peacefully live together in Tatarstan, and Orthodoxy plays an important creative role, and is a powerful factor of social development, spiritual and moral revival of the society. Together we are proud of our victories, and mourn for tragic losses, believing that no one can destroy the historical unity of multi-ethnic people living in the republic.
Many important events will happen this year in life of Orthodox community. We will celebrate the 700th anniversary of Blessed Sergius of Radonezh, and the 300th anniversary of the second translation of the relics of Saint German. I am sure that all these religious and cultural-historical events will favour development of Orthodoxy and make inter-ethnic mutual understanding in the republic stronger. Let the bright Star of Bethlehem light up Christmas sky and show the way to salvation and spiritual perfection.
I wish you to feel the holiday spirit, have strong health, peace and all the best!
