Tatarstan President: “We have to develop wood processing industry”

On January 17 at a summary session of Tatarstan Ministry of Forestry Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that special emphasis should be put on wood processing industry.
Head of Forestry Department in Volga Federal District Aleksandr Ornatsky, members of Tatarstan Government, employees of Tatarstan forestry industry took part in the session.
Before the session Rustam Minnikhanov and Director General of OOO “Kastamonu integrated wood industry” Onur Guven discussed construction of wood processing plant at SEZ “Alabuga”.
Minister of Forestry Nail Magdeev made a keynote report on results of ministry’s work. Total forest area in the region makes 1,271 mln hectares.
There are 163 natural conservation areas, including 26 state nature reserves and 137 natural landmarks. Nail Magdeev stated with satisfaction that due to implemented measures no forest fires occurred in the republic. At the same time, drying out of forest vegetation is an urgent problem.
According to the minister, Tatarstan requires 170 thousand hectares of protective forest plantation.
Tatarstan Ministry of Forestry created 125 improved green stops in 2013. Nail Magdeev also told about results of work on restoration of wooden architecture in Kazan.
Head of Forestry Department in Volga Federal District Aleksandr Ornatsky made report at the session. He told about condition of forests in Volga Federal District and federal projects implemented in the industry. On behalf of Federal Forestry Agency Nail Magdeev thanked Tatarstan leadership for active work on forest preservation.
Summing up, Rustam Minnikhanov noted considerable contribution of employees of Tatarstan forestry industry and called for expanding their experience.
Rustam Minnikhanov continued that arboretums are required for efficient forest restoration. He believes that modern seed-growing centre in Sabinsky region that produces 12 mln nursery plants every year is the best in Russia.
Tatarstan President also called for preventing illegal deforestation.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
