Rustam Minnikhanov: “Prevention of drug trafficking is one of the most important national tasks”

On January 31 at a joint session of Anti-drug commission and RT Department of Federal Service of the Russian Federation for the Control of Drug Trafficking Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that the problem of drug trafficking can only be solved by joint efforts of law enforcement bodies, state authorities and public organisations.
Tatarstan President noted that Universiade required well-coordinated actions of state authorities and law enforcement agencies, and the Games were held on the highest level. RT Department of Federal Service of the Russian Federation for the Control of Drug Trafficking fulfilled their tasks, he added. 15 thousand volunteers and 4 thousand people who worked at sports venues were tested for drug taking. Rustam Minnikhanov thanked RT Department of Federal Service of the Russian Federation for the Control of Drug Trafficking for participation in preparation for Universiade.
85 mln rubles were allocated for preventive counter-drugs measures for the last three years. There was a decrease in drug abuse rate by 11 per cent in 2013.
Head of RT Department of Federal Service of the Russian Federation for the Control of Drug Trafficking Fayaz Shabaev reported on results of work in 2013. In particular, he told that 5 drug syndicates and 220 groups were liquidated, 500 leaders and members of criminal organisations were brought to trial. There were 255 drug addicts for 100 thousand population. Law enforcement bodies registered 4851 crimes connected with illegal trafficking of banned substances.
Summing up, Rustam Minnikhanov said that drug abuse prevention is one of the most important national tasks. He added that it is important to increase the level of coordination, improve mechanism of interaction between state authorities and law enforcement agencies and attract public organisations. Main task of RT Department of Federal Service of the Russian Federation for the Control of Drug Trafficking is counteraction to illegal drug trafficking.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
