Tatarstan Minister of Economy Midkhat Shagiakhmetov: “Four municipal regions still provide two-thirds of Tatarstan GRP”

On February 5 at a joint session of Tatarstan Ministry of Industry and Trade and Ministry of Economy Tatarstan Minister of Economy Midkhat Shagiakhmetov said that the analysis of main trends of Tatarstan development differs from the situation of previous years.

The session "Innovative development of enterprises - the basis of competitive growth of regional economy" was held at International Information Centre (Universiade Village, Kazan) and broadcast online on the official Government Portal (http://prav.tatarstan.ru/).

Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov, deputies of State Duma, members of the Federation Council of Russian Federal Assembly, employees of ministries and agencies, Tatarstan enterprises, Director of the Department for special economic zones and projects of regional development of Russian Ministry of economic development Andrey Sokolov, and Director of the Department for development of small and medium-size entrepreneurship Natalia Larionova took part in the event.

Midkhat Shagiakhmetov made a report “Social and economic development of Tatarstan in 2013. Formation of leadership and innovative economy – an important challenge”.

“Our republic and country are integrated into global economy, and we faced the same problems connected with the slowdown in economic growth. In conditions of market decline and increased competition internal reserves is the main factor of development. In particular, this includes productivity enhancement, implementation of innovative technologies, satisfaction of recruitment needs, and competitive growth,” Midkhat Shagiakhmetov said. He noted that these objectives, as well as productivity enhancement in social sphere, were described as priority ones in Presidential edicts issued in May.

Midkhat Shagiakhmetov reminded that Tatarstan GRP made 1 trillion 520 bln rubles in 2013, two-thirds of which are still provided by four municipal regions. There is a slowdown in industry, construction and trade spheres.
