Barcelona experience in transformation of urban environment presented to Rustam Minnikhanov

On February 24 during his working trip to Barcelona Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov got familiar with Barcelona experience in transformation of urban environment. Chief Architect of Barcelona Vicente Guallart made a presentation for Tatarstan delegation.
Transformation of Barcelona started in 1979 when Mayor of the city Serra started realizing new strategy of city development aiming to create favourable environment for all dwellers. Reconstruction of the city started from low-budget projects.
It was later on called “urban acupuncture”, when immediate results were obtained by dealing with key points. Local transformation projects aimed at creation of parks and squares were developed for 150 city territories. Later these territories became favourable public places. The programme of reconstruction of industrial and poor areas appeared later on.
Another method was applied in 1990s. New central zones were created in the provinces.
After “urban acupuncture” period, due to Olympic Games 1992 implementation of new major projects began.
Water supply and sanitation systems, old roads were reconstructed, new motorways were built, major funds were invested in transport and communication sectors, new sports venues appeared in the city. Improvement of coastal area was a key project.
Tatarstan President watched the presentation with great interest saying that Barcelona experience may be useful for Kazan.
On May 26, speaking at a briefing in the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic held in a videoconference mode with participation of all municipal regions of Tatarstan and focused on events scheduled for June 1, International Children’s Day, as well as the implementation of the “Summer in Tatarstan” programme, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leyla Fazleeva appealed that parents should closely supervise their children during recreational activities near water in order to prevent accidents.
On 18 May ay the CIPR conference in Nizhniy Nogorod the Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Roman Shaykhutdinov, the Rector of the Innopolis University Aleksandr Gasnikpov and the Vice-rector of the University Yevgeny Bobrov will take part at round tables session of the conference.
Experts will discuss the role of Tatarstan and Innopolis as one of the key technological centers of the country and how regional innovative platforms help to solve tasks of the whole Russian industry. A special emphasis will be placed on the digital transformation of the oil and gas sector and how large clusters and scientific and technological centers are becoming drivers of industry change.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
