Tatarstan President meets with representatives of German Academic Exchange Service

On March 13, at their meeting at Tatarstan Government House Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Director of the Northern Department of German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Annette Pieper discussed current issues related to the activity of DAAD in Tatarstan and prospects for cooperation between Tatarstan higher education institutions and the Service.
The DAAD is a self-governing organisation of the institutions of higher education in Germany, representing more than 200 German higher education institutions and 100 student organisations. Awarding around 60,000 grants annually, the DAAD has 14 representative offices and 51 information centers worldwide.
In Tatarstan, the DAAD arranges study tours for student groups to Germany and offers Master fellowship programmes for economists, as well as grants for studying and dosing research in Germany.
Welcoming Annette Pieper, Rustam Minnikhanov said that the DAAD is the main regional partner in implementing joint Tatarstan-German educational projects. Since 2008, 170 people have been awarded DAAD grants in the republic. Tatarstan President stressed the need to continue developing cooperation between Tatarstan higher education institutions and the Service.
Deputy Prime Minister – Tatarstan Minister of Education and Science Engel Fattakhov, Rector of Kazan Federal University Ilshat Gafurov, Rector of Tupolev Kazan State Technical University Albert Gilmutdinov and Director of DAAD Information center in Kazan Tilo Helmut Zenker took part in the meeting.
On 15 December, speaking at a meeting of the competition committee of the regional public competition “The Manager of the Year” about its results in 2025, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the list of 155 participants (nominees), who are heads of enterprises and organizations from various industries and sectors of the economy, for the competition was formed based on recommendations from regional ministries and departments, city and district municipalities, employers' associations and the Federation of Trade Unions of the republic.
On 6 December speaking at a regional meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the regional Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector Marat Ayzatullin reported about progress in implementation of the of multi-apartment houses capital overhaul programme.
On 5 December, congratulating volunteers with the International Volunteers Day, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva wrote in her address: “
Your boundless kindness, sincere desire to help others and active civic position deserve special recognition and deep gratitude. There are over 5,000 volunteer associations operating successfully in Tatarstan, with a total membership of over 220,000 caring people of all ages and professions. Every year the contribution of volunteers into public life of the republic becomes more noticeable.
On 4 December Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Gafarov, who is the Chief of Staff of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic, took part in a strategic session on the establishment of an inter-university campus in the republic being held at the Kazan Aircraft University on 4-6 December with participation of more than 100 people and more than 40 experts in politics, economy, science, education and industry from all over Russia.
