Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov in Toronto: Potential of political and business contacts of Tatarstan and Canada is very high

On March 13 Tatarstan delegation led by Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov took part in a round table with Tatarstan and Canadian businessmen in Toronto, CERBA (First Canadian Place, 100 King Street West, Suite 1600).
Chairman of the Council of national board of directors of Canada Eurasia and Russia Business Association Lu Naumovski welcomed participants of the meeting and thanked Tatarstan delegation for interest towards Canadian business. Briefly telling about CERBA, he mentioned that the organisation has offices in Moscow, Toronto, Montreal, and Calgary, 200 members of corporations and individuals working in different industries.
Lu Naumovski noted that Canadian companies are interested in cooperation with Tatarstan enterprises in the sphere of finances, agriculture and natural resources. He continued that Tatarstan Chamber of Commerce and Industry and CERBA are to sign Memorandum of understanding.
Tatarstan Prime Minister Ildar Khalikov thanked CERBA for warm reception on behalf of Tatarstan President and Government, saying that the potential of political and business contacts of Tatarstan and Canada is very high. He also reminded that Canadian athletes took part in 27th World Summer Universiade in Kazan, and won 16 medals.
Ildar Khalikov introduced members of the delegation, Chief Executive of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Linar Yakupov, Minister of Health Adel Vafin, Minister of Transport and Roads Lenar Safin, trade and economic representative of Tatarstan under Trade Representative Office of Russia in the USA Ravil Nigmedzyanov.
Linar Yakupov told about major investment projects under implementation in the republic, such as Innopolis, Alabuga, and Smart City Kazan.
Ildar Khalikov told about venues that were built especially for student games 2013.
Tatarstan Prime Minister believes that IT industry is another prospective area of cooperation, and told about the meeting with Genetec officials in Montreal.
Summing up, Ildar Khalikov mentioned another important project, organization of production of Pratt&Whitney engines at Special Economic Zone “Alabuga”.
On 15 December, speaking at a meeting of the competition committee of the regional public competition “The Manager of the Year” about its results in 2025, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin said that the list of 155 participants (nominees), who are heads of enterprises and organizations from various industries and sectors of the economy, for the competition was formed based on recommendations from regional ministries and departments, city and district municipalities, employers' associations and the Federation of Trade Unions of the republic.
On 6 December speaking at a regional meeting held by the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov in the Government House of the republic with all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the regional Minister of Construction, Architecture and Housing Utilities Sector Marat Ayzatullin reported about progress in implementation of the of multi-apartment houses capital overhaul programme.
On 5 December, congratulating volunteers with the International Volunteers Day, Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Leyla Fazleeva wrote in her address: “
Your boundless kindness, sincere desire to help others and active civic position deserve special recognition and deep gratitude. There are over 5,000 volunteer associations operating successfully in Tatarstan, with a total membership of over 220,000 caring people of all ages and professions. Every year the contribution of volunteers into public life of the republic becomes more noticeable.
On 4 December Tatarstan Deputy Prime Minister Shamil Gafarov, who is the Chief of Staff of the Office of the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic, took part in a strategic session on the establishment of an inter-university campus in the republic being held at the Kazan Aircraft University on 4-6 December with participation of more than 100 people and more than 40 experts in politics, economy, science, education and industry from all over Russia.
