RT Minister of agriculture and foodstuff Marat Akhmetov: “There are no grounds to raise retail prices for products in Tatarstan”

RT Deputy Prime minister - Minister of agriculture and foodstuff Marat Akhmetov said at a briefing in RT Cabinet that according to the work of agricultural and industrial complex in Tatarstan the growth of meat production made 6%, milk production – 2% during the first two months of 2009. Videoconference was devoted to preparation of agricultural and industrial complex for spring-field works. The event was aired on-line for anyone to ask a question via official government Internet portal - www.prav.tatar.ru.
Marat Akhmetov informed that reduction of demand for milk products was fixed in republic. He also said that there are no grounds to raising retail prices for bakery and milk products in Tatarstan stating that purchasing price for milk are still very low (about 6 roubles per 1 litre). It allows keeping retail prices reasonable for consumers.
As for growth of prices for some milk products in supermarkets, retail sellers want to cover costs (it is known that the number of customers in supermarkets has decreased).
RT Minister of agriculture and foodstuff reminded that currently consumer basket in Tatarstan is the lowest one in Russia.
On 16 May, speaking at a meeting in the Government House of the republic held by the regional Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin with participation of the Rais (Head) of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and all municipalities taking part in it via videoconference, the Minister of Agriculture and Food of the republic Marat Zyabbarov reported that the sowing of spring crops is in full swing in the republic with 1m 38 thousand hectares or 61 per cent of the planned have been sown.
On May 14, on the sidelines of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin and Head of the Federal Service for Accreditation Dmitry Volvach signed an agreement on interaction and cooperation in the development of the halal industry.
On May 14, Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda, who arrived on a working visit in Kazan to take part in the events of the XVII International Economic Forum “Russia-the Islamic World: KazanForum”, was met by Prime Minister of the republic Aleksey Pesoshin and other officials at the Kazan International Airport.
On 9 May Tatarstan Prime Minister Aleksey Pesoshin took part in a ceremony of laying flowers to the monument “The victorious soldier” dedicated to the celebrations of the Day of Victory in the Great Patriotic War (WW II) 1941-1945 and held at Arsk cemetery in Kazan.
